Before a new worker can begin working with radioactive materials, he or she must be registered as a radiation worker with EHRS. After a worker is registered, Radiation Safety Training - New Worker, must be completed.
For more information on registering and training new radiation workers, please refer to the Radiation Safety User's Guide.
ALARA training is the specialized training that must be held every year that is specific for each RAM laboratory. This training is in addition to annual training held by EHRS. The purpose of ALARA training is for each member of the laboratory to become familiar with the procedures and records that must be kept in a laboratory where radioactive materials are used.
Yes. All members of a laboratory are required to complete EHRS radiation safety training and ALARA training regardless of whether they handle radioactive materials.
Occassionally the worker could be "timed out" of a training session, or computer problems happened on EHRS' server. Follow the instructions on the help screen. If you have a question whether your training was registered, please call EHRS at 215.898.7187.
Student workers who are eighteen years or older are registered like any radiation worker, and the same training requirements apply (i.e. they must complete "New Worker" radiation safety training before they begin work in the lab).
Yes. All workers in a RAM laboratory are required to complete initial training and annual radiation safety training thereafter.
