TRAINING DATES


The following training programs are required by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (DEP) for all employees who work with hazardous substances including: chemicals, human blood, blood products, fluids, human tissue, and radioactive materials. All training courses are presented by the Office of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety (EHRS). Attendance is required at one or more sessions, depending upon the employee's potential exposures. Check the EHRS website for additional information concerning course descriptions and requirements.

The following programs are online:

Bloodborne Pathogens - Annual Update
This program is now available online. Completion of the program is required annually for all laboratory faculty and staff who work with human source material, HIV, or Hepatitis viruses and have previously attended "Introduction to Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens."

Laboratory Safety - Annual Update
This program is now available online. It is required annually for all laboratory faculty and staff who have previously attended "Introduction to Laboratory Safety at Penn, (Chemical Hygiene Training)."

Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens in a clinical setting
This program is now available online. It is intended for faculty and staff with direct patient contact, or those who handle clinical specimens, and administrators who routinely work in a clinical environment.

Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens in a dental setting
This program is now available online. It is intended for Dental School faculty and staff with direct patient contact, or those who handle clinical specimens, and administrators who routinely work in a dental environment.

Radiation Safety Training
All training for radiation workers is online. Training can be completed on our website. If you have any questions, please call EHRS at 898-4453
