Laboratory Ergonomics

Many laboratory activities involve repetitive motions and awkward postures. These activities include pipetting, microscopy, cell counting, using forceps, using a cryostat and working in a glove box, biosafety cabinet or fume hood. Those who work in a laboratory are at an increased risk of repetitive stress injuries.

The goal of this section is to provide laboratory workers with information that will allow them to make changes that will reduce the risk of injury and consider ergonomics when purchasing new laboratory equipment.
