07/01/06 Biosafety Cabinet Certification Program Recently Penn's Purchasing Services, Facilities Services and Environmental Health & Radiation Safety (EHRS) negotiated a new contract with Micro-Clean, Inc. to conduct Penn's biosafety cabinet certification and maintenance program. Beginning July 1, 2006, Penn will be using Micro-Clean, Inc. for all services related to biosafety cabinet certification, decontamination and repair. EHRS will work with Micro-Clean to ensure that all biosafety cabinets on campus are certified annually and maintained in safe working condition. Micro-Clean will re-tag all biosafety cabinets with their contact number and MCI tracking number.
If your cabinet is past due for its annual certification: contact EHRS 215-898-4453 or biohazreg@ehrs.upenn.edu.
If your cabinet is out of order or must be decontaminated prior to moving to a new location, contact the Micro-Clean customer service representative, Mickey Berrios at 1-800-523-9852 extension 236 or by email at migdaliaberrios@microcln.com to request a quote for these services. A copy of your valid purchase order must be faxed to Mickey's attention at 610-954-7803 prior to scheduling. This new contract was developed to reduce cost and improve service to the Penn research community.
